NINE VERY SHORT PLAYS explore love and loss in a remote, mythical town called Almost, Maine, where people experience the life-altering power of the human heart. In a series of playful and surreal scenes, relationships end, begin, or change beyond recognition, as strangers become friends, friends become lovers, and lovers turn into strangers. Almost, Maine premiered at the Portland Stage Company in 2004, where it broke box office records: it has since become one of the most popular plays in the United States.
Feels like the end of the world, and here I am at the end of the world, and I have nowhere to go, so I was counting on staying here.
