Michael Ducharme Appointed to Artistic Director Team
With 2025 in our rear-view mirror, we begin 2026 – MTC’s 50th anniversary season! – with the Tony Award winning play, “Eureka Day”. We are also pleased to introduce our latest addition to the Leadership Team. All the way from Willits, Michael Ducharme will complete the Artistic Director team of Alex Wright and Diane Larson.
Michael brings deep experience in artistic leadership to MTC. He was the Producing Artistic Director at Ukiah Players Theatre for five seasons and is currently chair of the Artistic Direction Committee, as well as being Treasurer, for the Willits Community Theatre Board. Michael has also served as General Manager for Dallas Theatre Center, Trinity Rep and Berkeley Rep. Michael also directed numerous productions for Willits Community Theatre, Ukiah Players and most recently for Mendocino Theatre Company, where he directed last seasons “Lonely Planet”. This season, Michael will direct “Dancing Lessons”.
“I’m so pleased to have another member of the leadership team that has experience not only in the creative process, but also the production and administration processes. Michael knows what it takes to get a show open. That’s a valuable “one two punch”. In fact, our whole new leadership team reflects this strength!”, says Board President, Jeff Rowlings.
MTC Producing Artistic Director, Alex Wright adds, “Artistry, a keen eye for spotting what is essential to a theatrical event, experience in ALL aspects of theatre, the patience to bear with the rigors of production, and a charming equanimity and confidence of presence; this is Michael Ducharme. I am honored and thrilled to be working alongside Michael over the next few years as Artistic Director and as a Director. Our arms are open wide in welcoming Michael into our family here at MTC.”
