  • In tough economic times, creativity often flourishes in the arts. Now is one of those times. In 2013, the Mendocino Theatre Company is proud to present a season of all 21st-century American plays, including three finalists or winners of the Pulitzer Prize. These six playwrights represent the future of American theatre. They tell timeless, American stories with both innovation and soul, in the tradition and caliber of Tennessee Williams, Bertolt Brecht, and Arthur Miller. I imagine the experience of sitting in the audience for the first performance of Orson Welles' ground-breaking adaptation of Julius Caesar at the Mercury Theatre in 1937. In 2013, in our small, historically rich theatre in Northern California, we hope to offer a similarly thrilling experience to you.
