A group of GWAR members launched a group of whiskey barrels into the moon's orbit, causing them to shrink as they rotated under the impact of space's deathly cold and the sun's life-giving heat. Ragnarök Rye was born, an excellent rye whiskey with overtones of cherrywood and sugar maple that provide delicate tastes not seen in typical rye whiskies.
Catoctin Creek Ragnarök Rye is a 92-proof rye whisky aged in charred new white oak and sugar maple, producing a luscious and velvety taste.
NOSE: Notes of tobacco, well-roasted grains, and coffee beans. The only inkling of sweetness is a note of dried plum and raisin that lingers alongside some (very) dark chocolate aromas.
TASTE: Tough and drying on the attack; ashy, woody, and grainy all at once. Its sweetness kicked well into the back seat.
FINISH: The finish finds room for a bit of butterscotch and a hint of Christmas spice.
